Allium with Water Drops, 4.1.23

Water drops are always fun. Or at least they are when I manage to get them in focus. It can be rather difficult, crouching down to get the shot, attempting to keep my body still, not breathing, and then pressing the shutter and hoping like anything it works. This one did okay, but I should have worked on some even closer images. Sometimes, though … well … I get weary of crouching! In this case I also simply couldn’t manage to get closer without climbing into the plants and since we were at a popular mansion and garden spot I didn’t think people would appreciate me stomping on things.

Plumbago auriculata (I), 10.21.25

I find this plant incredibly difficult to capture because of the color. When I see them on my walks I puzzle over them … blue or purple?! Really, I think it’s one of those in between colors that could be seen either way, depending upon the viewer. But I do try to create the image in the color I remember. Straight out of the camera (SOOC for those in the know) it appears quite blue, but, at least to me, there needs to be a bit of the purple thrown in. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe I need to walk back and have another look! And maybe, to you, this does just look like plain old blue. Do tell!

Rumex (II), 5.9.25

This image was made on our first walking day in Portugal this past May. We were, at this point, a bit above Pinhão. We started out in the rain, and we had a good climb as we began. but nothing that did us in. I found the colors of these plants to be lovely. Of course stopping to shoot flora also gave me a bit of time to catch my breath from the climb.
