Having just heard there is another fire in California — this time in our own Santa Cruz Mountains — I will post a bit more cheer and, at the same time, wish my friend Sean and his family safety, as they live in that area.
In other news I put water in our bird bath for our sweet birds. Surely they are suffering mightily …?

Remembrance
I’m not completely clear on how to distinguish the poppy varieties. This is possibly the Papaver rhoeas, which is used for Remembrance Day in the UK, but it could also easily be Papaver somniferum or orientalis: I’ve yet to read anything that really makes it clear to me, and when I do image searches all three varieties show this kind of flower.
In any case, I will post it today, on our Veteran’s Day.
