This was made on today’s short walk. It’s a rose from the neighborhood, and the tag, if there ever was one, wasn’t on the plant, so I haven’t a clue what its name is. Since it looks rather sunny I opted to go with that.

An Unexpected Surprise
Today’s walk wasn’t going to be long, and I really wasn’t feeling the photography thing at all. I did a bit of work, but was fairly sure nothing would pan out. Then I landed at a house I visit each year: the front yard has a lovely selection of roses. I thought I’d at least give them a go, despite my mood and the wind. As I was leaving a woman came out of her garage and asked if liked her roses. We chatted a while. I’m normally not one to chat with strangers, but photography has changed the way I interact with people. I rather like that! She even talked enough to tell me she was 91 … didn’t look it at ALL! I sure hope I’m like she is when I’m that age, should I live that long. She was wonderful! She then offered to give me some roses. Well gee … yes, I’d LOVE some! This meant I had to hightail it home, since I wanted to get them in water. I added some of mine as well (the ones on the upper left, along with some of the Nandina domestica for the white contrast.
Turns out my walk was rather special!
Goodnight Flower
This is a new rose that will be introduced to the general public in 2017. It’s at the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden and, as you can read below, they are asking for name submissions. Fun!
I really thought the rose had more lavender in it, but on my screen it seems a bit pinker. I guess I’ll just have to go back and look at it again. I can handle that.
