Goodnight Flower

I know I should remember the name of this flower but, at the moment, I sure can’t! Anyone care to remind me? I’d greatly appreciate it.

Update: It’s Anemone hupehensis var. japonica. Whew! I knew I’d figure it out eventually. Now on to the next one (see the flower for 9.17.15 … anyone know what that is?).

Amazing Colors

I am fascinated by this particular prickly pear. I’m pretty sure it’s Opuntia violate var. santa rita … or, if you prefer Purple prickly pear. Honest … the purples and pale greens … well … just look!

They are definitely prickly, though. It’s not the sharp needles, but the tiny little things (glochids, perhaps?) that are quite a nuisance. Believe me, they hurt! While I love them, I don’t think I’d grow them.
