I ran across a tree yesterday that, from a distance, looked as if it had pink blossoms on it. Getting closer, I realized I was seeing the leaves. I don’t know what kind of tree it was. Perhaps a reader can ID it for me?

Looks like something in the maple family. The branching pattern is right for a maple.

Not quite. We have swamp maple here. It always reminds me of poison ivy and I have to look twice when pulling the seedlings. The leaves in your picture made me look twice. There are a lot of variegated maples.

Ah … I never think about poison ivy here. We do have poison oak, but I can spot that very easily.
