Okay … or DO! I saw this little guy (and he’s VERY little!) on a rose at the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden yesterday. Love the wings!

It was once suggested that I alter the color of a ladybug because it didn’t look bright red. I understood, and it would have been a prettier shot with a red ladybug but some ladybugs are different colors. Maybe they aren’t ladies. Maybe they like to take risks. Maybe they are San Francisco Giants fans. Who knows?

As is typical after an opera run, today is “hangover day”. No, I didn’t drink too much, but I feel out of sorts, my brain feels “fuzzy” (as does my vision at the moment), and I feel as if I can’t get much done. Still, I did manage a near seven mile walk, and two loads of laundry have been done. I guess I’m managing … ever so slowly!
I believe this bee is a male carpenter bee. I will check with my niece who knows all about these things, though, to verify! And yes, this is from today’s walk. If what I read is correct, this bee doesn’t have a stinger. I can live with that.

… and a flower, of course.
The reason this flower (Eremalche rotundifolia (A. Gray) E. Greene) is called the “desert five-spot” isn’t clear here, but when it opens there are five red spots inside. You can barely see a bit of red if you look closely at the opening.
