Goodnight Flower
This is, I believe, Hop-Sage (and I’m naming it that unless I hear otherwise) also known as Grayia spinosa, from the Goosefoot Family. These are actually bracts, I think, rather than actual flowers. But of course you knew all of that already!

Filoli: Dogwood (I), 3.21.14
This is from Filoli, and the dogwood was in deep shade. As is typical of me, I had no tripod for a Filoli visit. I think I’ll finally give in and haul one with me the next time: it does make for easier work once it’s set up and ready to go.
