Looking Back

This time I’m looking back at the backpack trip I was able to take over a year ago, with some very wonderful people who also happen to be great photographers. I’m still ever so grateful that they allowed me to tag along that year.

We had weather on some days, and this was one of those days. I do love some rain, so when it came in I was pretty darn happy.

Trip Photo #6

(I’m not sure why I keep numbering these as I do: clearly I’ve posted other trip photos! Perhaps I’ll later go back and change the titles of these posts. Time will tell.)

This was made at 7 PM. I liked the clouds and light, and I’m guessing I’m seeing rain, although I can’t remember this exact evening so I’m not sure if we received any or not. (Note to self for next trip: write about each day a wee bit so you can remember things like that!)

Death Valley Memories

With Dan back home and talking about Death Valley I can’t help but look more at the work I have from last year. If I’m remembering correctly we arrived home and I had to go directly back to work. That might explain why I have barely worked on photos from that trip. I’m finding both a lot that should be trashed and a lot of things that I love either because I think they are good or because they bring back such wonderful memories. My favorite is when they fit both bills.

It takes me a while, though, to decide if something is truly a “keeper” to the point of printing. This shot here certainly brings back wonderful memories. Getting weather in Death Valley is just so darn amazingly beautiful. I wonder though: maybe you have to be there to really appreciate the image. Who knows?
