I was looking for the “Fourth of July Rose” in my past years’ shots, but never managed to find it. (Thus, the other image you saw last night for the Goodnight Flower.) But as I was quickly perusing 2013 I found this image. I worked on it a wee bit. And I like it. So I greet you with an icy photo this morning, despite our current warm month.

This reminds me, though, that I meant to take time while I have absolutely no playing work to go through years and years of photos. Who knows what I’ll find that I ignored earlier?

This is what I think of as a common geranium. It’s Latin name, though, is Pelargonium. The Geranium is not a Pelargonium. Yes, it’s confusing!

Pelargonium has the common names geraniums, pelargoniums, or storksbills.
Geranium has the common name cranesbill and is sometimes called “hardy geranium”.

No, there is no test. I just thought you might be interested!

From Today’s Walk

I initially thought I wasn’t going to be able to get to the Municipal Rose Garden today, as I had been ill with vertigo yesterday, and it hit me more in the middle of the night. Still, I thought I’d head that direction and see what I could manage.

Ta-Da! I made it to the rose garden, and there was no vertigo at all.

Alas, after making some images the vertigo kicked back in. I’m realizing that while walking works, anything requiring excellent eye focus causes dizziness. The bright sun and wind seem to add to the issue (since both are hard on the eyes.) So after only working on seven rose varieties I had to pack things up and head back home. At least I managed to get some good miles in! And yes, of course I did shoot a wee bit. Here’s the first rose. Purple roses always catch my eye.
