It has an awful name, but it’s a lovely flower …

Lavender Scabiosa, 10.23.14
My walk today took some unexpected turns.
I first wound up talking to a homeowner for at least fifteen minutes (probably more). He pointed out a number of his plants and talked about each. He invited me to come back and take some seeds when his Scabiosa go to seed. I then headed toward a spot another home owner had emailed me about (after I sent her a photo of one of her succulents) that had some artichoke flowers and sunflowers. While shooting the sunflowers the person who tended that garden talked about a lot of her flowers, and then invited me on to her porch to shoot her hanging orchid cactus that was blooming (they don’t last long). She later handed me two apricots that were absolutely delicious but they forced me to then head straight home because I was so sticky from the juice! I headed out yet again and as I was shooting some other flowers a person came out to hand me a card, explaining that she makes metal prints (I’m not actually interested in having her print my work, but it was nice of her to come out and say hi). I do live in a very friendly neighborhood.
This is, as usual, just a first shot, but it’s not half bad. Especially since I neglected to switch the ISO back to 200 from yesterday (oops!).
