I took a nine mile walk today. My destination was the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden and while there are a lot of roses past their prime I ended up spending a good amount of time shooting some. I’m hopeful that I’ll have a few pretty nice rose photos soon.
On my way there I ran across a patch of this cane and while I knew I’d not get anything absolutely extraordinary I had to stop. I’m not certain it’s Arundo donax, but it sure looks as if it could be. We double reed players use this stuff to make our reeds. The cane in this photo was large enough to be contrabassoon cane, I think.
