2015 … Say WHAT?!

A blue morning glory for you, despite it not being morning and me not being blue. But blue seems to be a New Year’s celebratory color. So there you go.

Where is the time going, and why do I feel as if I can’t keep up, I wonder? Time is a mystery to me. I’m fifty-eight. I feel like a kid. I was born in 1956. That doesn’t seem that long ago until I have to fill in some online form and I have to scroll down and down and down to reach that year! But hey, as I said, I feel like a kid. Some might say I act childish. So it goes.

But … 2015!?!? Wowzers.

Yes, I just wrote “Wowzers”.

Proof of my “kidness” maybe?

Good Morning World

It’s nearly time to head out on my walk. We have slightly colder weather here at the moment (nothing many corners of  earth would consider cold, I suppose: it’s currently 45°) but I’m heading out soon because the wind is also supposed to kick up later in the day. I don’t mind cold nearly as much as I mind wind.
I’m not sure the camera will get much use, but I’ll take it with me. One never knows what one will see out there, after all. For now please enjoy the green!

First Shot

Today’s walk was a wonderful eight mile trek to and from our Municipal Rose Garden. There are only a few blooms at this point, and so many of the plants look like they have a disease of some sort, but of course there’s always something to see! This is my first shot, and I may opt to crop it, but not yet. I have to decide on that. For now this will do!

Goodnight Flower

Pink & White Camellia, 2.11.14

This is from all the way back in February. I still have so many photos to sort through: it’s doubtful I’ll ever get through everything, but I will certainly keep trying to do so.

We live in an area that has a lot of camellias. Some are back in bloom now, including our sadly unhealthy plants by our front door. Many more will be blooming soon, and I’ll continue to search for the spectacular camellias in the neighborhood. Filoli opens in February and I’m certain they will have some lovely ones as well.

This was shot at the Red Butte Botanical Garden in Salt Lake City, Utah. It’s called “Ryan’s Pink”. There was one area that was just full of the colorful flowers.

If you ever have a chance to visit that botanical garden I highly recommend it. I didn’t get to spend nearly enough time there (one could certainly spend more than one day going through it all), but the time I spent was lovely.

Sometimes It’s About the Event & The Memories

Even while I doubt I have anything print-worthy from yesterday, I realized that there are shots that I like because they remind me of what we saw. They remind me, too, of what I good time I had with everyone.

Of course it’s possible I may find I do have things I can print: I start out not liking anything and after a while my eyes start to see the possibilities. Here’s hoping!

Pelican on the Pond

Yesterday we went for a little drive and had a visit with some friends. Oh, and we also met up with some human friends! We had great fun with both sets of friends

Dan has a new lens so I used the 100-400mm his new lens replaces. It’s huge. It’s awkward and, as he told me today, I’ll get a lot of bad photos. Indeed I can verify that as I look at all the shots from yesterday. I’m not sure I’ll come away with even one that I truly like, but this will at least show you some of our “friends”.

Of course I won’t give up on everything I shot yesterday: I’ve learned to be slow in deleting things, as my eyes see differently as I gain some distance.
