the way I see the world
I’m assuming these are agave flowers, but I’m quite willing to hear from you if I’m wrong.
Sometimes I “clean up” little webs on flowers because I find them distracting. This time I preferred keeping them there … I just liked them. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
My brain is so preoccupied with the stuff of life that my walk today was rather labored. This happens when I am distracted. My feet were slow and everything felt heavy. But of course I still saw a few things that did stop me and cause me to pull out the camera. Sun shining through an agave is one of those things.
Here is another shot from yesterday. This was made at the Rosicrucian Park labyrinth.
Succulent Bird, 10.1.18
Oh how one can change. I hated succulents before my daughter Kelsey suggested I LOOK at them! Now I find them utterly fascinating.

Today is my daughter’s birthday. Yes, she was born on April 1st. (My mother thought my husband was making an April Fool’s joke when he called to say we’d had a girl, as I was so convinced that I was having a boy — mostly so I wouldn’t be disappointed, mind you — that mom bought a card for the birth of a boy!) Unfortunately we just had the run-of-the-mill birth while the girl in the bed next to mine gave birth in a truck (if I’m remembering correctly) so no TV crew for me. Go figure.
My daughter is the one who managed to get me to see succulents differently. I grew up thinking they were awful plants. (I suspect this was due to my mother not caring for them. Funny how that goes!)
Happy birthday, Kelsey! I hope you get to celebrate after your day at work. and I thank you for giving me new eyes. You’ve always had my heart.
