Silicon Valley Open Studios

It’s that time again … the Silicon Valley Open Studios begin. Our area is having them on May 20 and 21, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. If you are interested in dropping by to see our work, drop me a message with your email address and I will share our home address with you.

Last year was our first time doing this, and while we were still dealing with Covid, we did get some visitors and had a lovely time. Yes, we are still dealing with Covid, but it’s not the same this year and we are much more comfortable having the open house.

Here is my page at SVOS, and click here to see Dan’s.

I’ll have limited edition prints available (some matted and framed in custom frames, some matted only, and some just plain old prints), open edition prints in mats as well as in non-custom frames, and of course some cards. If you really want a particular boxed card set, though, please let me know in advance and I’ll make sure to have them available.

Hope to see some of you here.

A few of the prints I’ll have here (if you clicked through to SVOS this is what you’ll see):

But there will be many more!

Gift Certificates

Someone just asked about gift certificates. I had written about this some years back, but have neglected to mention it since then, but yes, I do have gift certificates! You can choose any amount, but I recommend getting something that equals some boxed cards or a print … just check out prices to see what works for you.

The recipient (or you, should you wish to have the certificate sent to you) receives a card with an image on the front and the gift certificate info inside.

UPDATE: Yes, I changed the image on the Gift Certificate card … and you can too! If you want a particular image you can always ask. (Just remember it’s best if it is light and has space for my name and all, please.)

Matted, Framed, and Ready To Find a Home

I have some prints that I’ve framed and have sitting here that are looking for a home.  (Hover over images to read more about each. Click on image to see larger and separately) All of these are my premium prints, signed, numbered and come with the certificate of authenticity.

These are matted, but have yet to be framed. Prices depend upon whether you choose plain prints ($60), matted ($100), or matted and framed ($175).

A Short Ramble and some Pink

My photography is taking a back seat for a time. We have family coming for a visit beginning tomorrow, and walks will be camera-free if and when they occur.

Today was spent preparing the house a bit. Miracles can’t happen (cracked tile will remain cracked, marred floors will remain marred, and not all clutter will be removed: so it goes!), but we did hang a number of photos (no, not mine … maybe someday?) and I’m tremendously pleased with how things look. We like to have not only our own work, but work of others showing here. Today we put up six new works from other artists. It’s fun to see their work on our walls, and we do love supporting other artists.

Just some quick pix from the iPhone to show work from William Neill, Charles Cramer, Penny Otwell, Franka Mlikota Gabler, Camille Seaman, John Sexton, Robin Black and Charlotte Hoffman. (Best seen live and in person, as you might imagine.)

Still, I do like to share my own work, and while I don’t print and frame much, I enjoy seeing them here and I love to make cards. I think, in fact, I’m more satisfied when I make my cards for some reason … maybe because I know when someone buys one they will then share it with someone else in most cases. Or at least some cases. Friends have told me they buy a card and then decide they want to keep it. (I suggest, “Just buy more!” Hah!)

Dahlias nearly always cause me to stop a walk and pull out the camera. In this instance I came across a patch of pink at the end of my walk … and right across the street from my house.

Another Photo On The Wall

There really is nothing like seeing one’s work on someone’s wall. It just makes the heart happy! Or at least that’s how it works for me.

This is the second print I made for my sister’s housewarming gift. I’m really happy with it, and even more happy with her wonderful place. (It took me over a year to get these to her … I’m slow. But had I not waited, she would have two other images on her wall, as these were made rather recently.)

The lighting was tricky, so the colors may be slightly off … funny how that goes. But I really like how these both worked!

On the Wall

This is by no means a great photo (simply an iPhone picture and the lighting was difficult) but I was so very pleased with the way my First Shot: Tradescantia turned out and it’s now on my sister’s wall. It’s a very special thing to see one’s work printed!

This is a 24×16 image framed in a 32×24 frame. It fit perfectly in the space we had picked.

Canvas Sale

Today I received a canvas-wrapped print of one of my works (an osteospermum with a katydid) someone had ordered for Christmas and I must say I’m pleased with what the company did! If anyone is interested, I can now provide these as well.

This is just a quick cut and paste from the vendor, so it’s not a high quality image, but it gives you the idea …

Anyone want to purchase a canvas-wrapped print? Just say the word!

And of course regular prints are available as well.

Many thanks to Irene, for purchasing this!
