For Brave Auditionees
Yesterday I sat on the panel for two opera auditions: one was for principal horn and the other for second clarinet. It’s an important task, but it is also one that makes me nervous: we decide people’s future, and I wish I could accept everyone. But only one of each instrument could be chosen. The bravery of ALL who play their hearts out for us does not go unnoticed by me. I admire them all, and I am humbled by their talent. So I have shared this image — a very brave looking Sparaxis among many other brave little flowers, on Facebook. I share it here as well.

Someone I Know & Love
My daughter Kelsey Layos has set up a website to share her artwork. She JUST set it up, so there isn’t much art up yet, but I know there will be! She has a talent that amazes me: I can use a camera (or an oboe), but a pen, pencil or brush? Forget it!
If you are interested, just go to kelseydoodles.
