A Friday Flower

I shot this way back in 2013. I was annoyed because it was too sunny and I prefer cloud cover to bright sun: a soft light is just right for flowers. But looking at it again, I decided I’d go ahead and share it. Columbine (Aquilegia) is just such a cool flower! Besides, purple and yellow is a kind of nice color combo. Not quite purple and green, but still ….

The yellow behind are tulips, in case you are wondering. They are, in fact, tulips even if you are not wondering. Yes, I am just this funny sometimes.

Ah, Paris!

Dan has been revisiting his work from Paris, so that got me looking at my old stuff. I’m not at a point where I’ll be sharing anything from the good camera, but when I saw this iPhone shot it just made me smile. Yes, I cut off the top of the clock … I was standing in a spot that did that no matter what. There were so many people taking photos I had to quickly snap some while no one was standing in front of the clock … that didn’t happen very often!

Sometimes Magic Happens

This is rare, but I do remember one other time I was shooting flowers and something very special happened: I was doing some macro work with Asclepius (milkweed), shooting the unopened buds when … POP POP POP (okay, maybe there was no sound other than my oohing and aahing) the buds opened. First the outer petals open and then more … it was astounding.

So today I was shooting these Alcea because I saw the one flower that was still closed and I loved the “swirl” of it all when … well … have a look! (Keep in mind these are SOOC since I am not even sure they will actually work as images for prints. Time will tell, and right now I have to practice!)
