Postcard Possibilities

Christmas_Cards.jpg

I am just starting to work on Christmas cards and it occurred to me that some might like Christmas postcards rather than greeting cards with envelopes.

I put a postcard together just now, and I think it works quite well! I have both 5×7 and 4×6 postcards available. (As you can see from the image above I do have a number of possibilities already done, and I will be working on a more soon.)

The first printed image, Ornaments & Agave, is a fave of mine, as it’s a little different than the norm. I will have more traditional images as well, of course.

This is a quick iPhone shot of the actual card:

Cards!

I’m currently in the process of printing a lot of cards. I love how they are turning out, and I’m sure others will enjoy them as well. You can see the prices on my card sales page.

Card purchases of eight or more come boxed. Smaller purchases come with each card in its own protective plastic sleeve.

I’m currently working on this purple and green series you see below (now with eight unique cards) and a succulent series (also currently with eight cards). Should you want more cards I can easily provide images that will fit the theme. If you have a special series request please let me know.

A Gift Idea

Need something small for a special someone? Here’s an idea: you can choose nearly any image I’ve shared and I will print and mat it for you. The mat measures 8 x 10 and the print is 3 1/2 by 5 1/2. Inches, that is. The cost is $30 plus sales tax (unless you are out of this state in which case there is no tax) plus a small shipping fee unless we can connect in which case I’ll simply hand it over to you! As you can see by this image, I initial the mat.

Canvas Sale

Today I received a canvas-wrapped print of one of my works (an osteospermum with a katydid) someone had ordered for Christmas and I must say I’m pleased with what the company did! If anyone is interested, I can now provide these as well.

This is just a quick cut and paste from the vendor, so it’s not a high quality image, but it gives you the idea …

Anyone want to purchase a canvas-wrapped print? Just say the word!

And of course regular prints are available as well.

Many thanks to Irene, for purchasing this!

Red Is Tricky

Red_Rose_(II),_11.3.14

Working with red can be a bit of a challenge. The camera has a tough time handling a really intense red. ( The same can go for purple, and certain blues as well.) My husband, G Dan Mitchell, has explained the why of it to me several times, but I’m not able to wrap my slow brain around it all, or at least I’m not able to hold on to the knowledge for much longer than the blink of an eye. Or shutter. Or something. That being said, I continue to work with the color. This time of year I work with it quite a bit. Much of the time I have to turn down the saturation. I’ve noticed that highly saturated photos are a big hit with a lot of people, but I want something to look the way I remember seeing it, and I don’t usually see things so ultra-saturated.

This photo above took some work. And yes, I did slide that saturation a bit to the left. At this point I think I may try to print it, as I think it would make a lovely card, and for a variety of events: Christmas, Valentine’s Day, special occasions … it works for all. It think it would make a good larger print as well. I guess it’s time to feed some paper into the printer!

Side note: I’m not sure if I’ll be posting anything for the next few days: I’ve been hired to perform in some Christmas concerts out of town, so I’ll just have to play it by ear. The posting, that is, not the music. Dan will hold down the fort here … you can always go look at his absolutely fantastic work. Needless to say, I learn a lot just by studying his photographs.
