… or is it a bunch of flowers?!

First Shot: Crimson Bouquet, 12.29.14
Today’s walk was a wonderful eight mile trek to and from our Municipal Rose Garden. There are only a few blooms at this point, and so many of the plants look like they have a disease of some sort, but of course there’s always something to see! This is my first shot, and I may opt to crop it, but not yet. I have to decide on that. For now this will do!
Pink & White Camellia, 2.11.14
This is from all the way back in February. I still have so many photos to sort through: it’s doubtful I’ll ever get through everything, but I will certainly keep trying to do so.
We live in an area that has a lot of camellias. Some are back in bloom now, including our sadly unhealthy plants by our front door. Many more will be blooming soon, and I’ll continue to search for the spectacular camellias in the neighborhood. Filoli opens in February and I’m certain they will have some lovely ones as well.
Chrysanthemum, 10.25.14
This was shot at the Red Butte Botanical Garden in Salt Lake City, Utah. It’s called “Ryan’s Pink”. There was one area that was just full of the colorful flowers.
If you ever have a chance to visit that botanical garden I highly recommend it. I didn’t get to spend nearly enough time there (one could certainly spend more than one day going through it all), but the time I spent was lovely.
December Calla Lily (I), 12.24.14
… but not completely unfocussed. A very tiny bit of the spadix (the yellow part) and a bit more of the spathe (the white) on the right really is in focus. Promise.
I have a great love for the calla lily (Zantedeschia is the Latin). The lines, the simplicity of color. They just grab my eye any time I walk by them. I have, in fact, a series of six on my desktop, of which this is (as you can see) number one. But it doesn’t end there: yesterday’s walk brought more. I won’t bombard anyone with all of them at once, but I’ll be posting them in bits and pieces ….
First Shot: Alstroemeria, 12.26.14
I knew I had to get out on a walk today. I was hoping for seven miles, but I stopped at a bit over six. It’ll do, as long as I don’t slack off this coming week: I need to make up for all of this holiday eating.
I love to try and find a decent “first shot”, but I don’t always succeed at that. I do like this one, though! It’s just a bunch of green, but I’m a huge fan of the color.
