Floral Friday

Over on Google+ (the link takes you directly to my page on G+) there is something called “Floral Friday”. I used to participate every week, but these days I’ve been somewhat discombobulated (a word one has to use on occasion just because it’s so darn fun even while being discombobulated isn’t fun at all) and I’ve neglected that. Today, though, I am remembering that it is Friday (days seem to melt into one another and I can’t keep track) and I’m also remembering to post this flower. With it I greet any readers here as well. Good Friday morning to you!

Goodnight Flower & News

A little something extra today: I entered three photos in the Sierra Art Trails juried exhibition titled “The Figure Revealed”. My three prints are of flora that, to my eye, have a bit of a “human side”.

All three were accepted!

I am so thrilled, honored and excited about this. Now I need to get these prints framed and shipped off. The schedule is a tight one. Sadly I can’t be there on February 7, when the exhibit opens, due to opening night of  Opera San José‘s “Where Angels Fear to Tread”  (I can’t just skip out on that!) but I will be able to make it to the gala reception on the 14th, which is fairly surprising considering my crazy schedule.

In any case, I’m still reeling: this is the first time I’ve done something like this.

Meanwhile, of course, it’s time for my goodnight flower. Here’s another camellia, this time from nearly one year ago.

First Shot

I took a walk today with the Fujifilm X-E1. I wanted to go back to the “succulent spot” and see what the smaller camera could do with it (the last time I only shot it with the iPhone), and I also wanted to have room in my bag for the can of corn I needed to purchase on my way home. (I love that I can walk to the grocery store.) Here is shot #1.

Good Morning World!

When we were visiting the birds it was rather foggy. We stopped to see these little guys, who were visible, but only a bit, due to both the brush and the fog. This is my first shot, when I was still getting my head in gear for the fun day. As is typical with me, it’s doubtful it could be a printable shot, but it is the first shot. No doubt there. It was morning, so I’m sharing it as my good morning shot.
